A New Book About John's Last Day

Join me Saturday for a birthday wish for Grace Slick, a heaping helping of good vibes and some searing rock and roll from the likes of Neil Young, Joe Cocker and The Who. Stephen Stills, hot off his gig with the boys in Buffalo Springfield, will be jamming with us. We are also going to have a real good Freak Out with an hour of Halloween themed music. The Doors, Donovan and Santana will get a little bit creepy. Traffic and Van Morrison will take us to some pretty surreal places. And of course Jimi Hendrix will take the party to another level. We'll talk about a woman who was not only Mick Jagger's lover, but she had a hit of her own and made big news when Mick had to go to court during her divorce proceedings. I just finished reading a book called December 8th 1980, The Day John Lennon Died. It was written by Kieth Elliot Greenburg and it's not quite as depressing as it may seem. Of course it was one of the saddest days of our lives, but to the interesting part was how the book tracked the people, actions and events that led up to Mark David Chapman's moment of madness. Greenburg said he wanted people to feel what it was like to be in New York that day. The book does that and much more. Here is author's comments on his book. December 8th, 1980. Keith Elliot Greenberg 1 Keith Elliot Greenberg 2 A flashback to the Jefferson Airplane before Grace Slick. From the first album called Jefferson Airplane Takes Off. This was pretty much the band that played the Fillmore many times. I like the reference to the Graduate.
