My wife Shelly is a "foodie". She is all about food, growing it, cooking it, receipes, menus and all other aspects of eating. She is to say the least a great cook. It was she who first told me to check out this book called Kitchen Confidentialby a guy name Antohy Bourdain. That was 10 years ago and I have been a fan of his writing and point of view ever since then. You might know him from his show on the Travel Channel called "No Reservations". It is brilliant. Part Travelouge, part cooking show, and all Bourdain. He describes himself as A Writer, A Chef, A Traveler and he is always "Hungry for more"
The thing I like about Anthony Bourdain is his no fear attitude. Whether it's eating something that died in a Greek Cave, or expressing something that needs to be said, he is so honest and so hip. To know him, read Kithchen Confidential, it's all right there. Now Anthony has a new book, 10 years later, it's called "Medium Raw".He continues his diatribe about celebrity Chefs and their lack of real cooking talent. He is political, honest and down to earth. He is far from perfect and that is his strenght. Foodie or not, you will enjoy reading what this man writes. Anthony will be in Sacramento on the 17th of Sept. at the Memorial Auditorium. He walks out on stage, talks about whatever is on his mind, and takes questions from the audience. I'm sure he will sell a few books that night. I plan on being in the front row, hopefully I can hand him a Cafe Rock apron and thank him for the hours of amusement he has provided. I did have a chance to talk with him on the phone a couple of weeks ago. Below is the interview. Tickets are still available forl his show on the 17th.
