Best band out of L.A.?

The Doors were named the Best L.A. Band ever on a recent Los Angeles Times Magazine list. Good call. The Doors WERE Los Angeles, in all it's beautiful and perverse charm. They bubbled up from the Sunset Strip, Venice Beach, and Laurel Canyon. They made their reputation by playing small clubs like London Fog and The Whiskey. Word got around and they became L.A.'s own phenom. Rounding out the Top 5 were The Beach Boys, The Byrds, Buffalo Springfield and Los Lobos. I would like to throw in a short lived band called Love. They only made 3 albums, burnt out before they could really shine, but if they had stayed together, They would have given the Doors a run for their money. They were the premier West coast psychedelic band around 1966. Led by Arthur Lee, a drifter, con man, scammer and hanger on, who had more talent than most 3 other bands in town put together. The sheer palette of colors this guy used is astonishing.  So, how bout you? Any ideas on some really good L.A. bands? Maybe The Monkees, War, Crosby Stills and Nash, The Eagles? Or 3 Dog Night, The Grass Roots or the Turtles. Well, while we are here in So. Cal, I'm going to Disneyland. If you can't join me, do the next best thing, meet here at the Revolution this Saturday morning. You must be this tall to ride ... peace out
