Weekdays 10a -2p

veggiesSacramento's Sunday Farmers Market  is something I look forward to every weekend. It's more than just the fresh regional fruits and vegetables, it's the whole communitiy vibe that is so special.  The market located under the freeway at 8th and W streets is a small urban city, a street scene complete with a full array of the riches that are grown right here in our area. All that open space you see from the freeways are used to grow some of the best food in the world, and you can find it here under the freeway every Sunday of the year. There is a regular group of people who visit this market every week, from Mayor Johnson to musicians like Johnny Guitar Knox who has played for change and dollars for over a dozen years. He is situated at the entrance and seems to know all of the thousands who pass by. The fish guy is fun to talk to, the nut guy can tell you stories and the politicos will be glad to discuss the state of the union at their booth. In short, life is all around. A great habit to get into on a Sunday morning, a reminder of what small town life in America must have been like a long time ago. Now go eat your veggies.
