This may not be the best time to go looking for a new job -- but it's the perfect time to improve the one you have right now. Career coach Chris Connolly has a few easy-to-implement tricks to do just that.
  • Improve Your Workspace. Photos and plants can work wonders, but if you can't add those, just do some spring cleaning. If you clear off your desk and get control of clutter, you'll feel less stressed.
  • Talk Amongst Yourselves. Being social not only makes life more pleasant, it can improve your work profile. When you chat with the boss, you can highlight your achievements without grandstanding.
  • Get Some Fresh Air. Never eat at your desk -- it blurs the line between your personal and professional lives. And sunlight eases the risk of depression.
  • Cross-train. If you're bored with your daily tasks, ask for more. Seriously. If you hear of a project that sounds interesting, ask to be counted in, even if it means a little more work.
