Weekdays 10a -2p

Careful when you step off the curb

This Saturday evening, Second Saturday as it's called, will be a very different one than last weeks. This week will mark the first time in 43 years that cars are allowed to drive up and down K Street. K Street, at one time was the Valley's social and economic epicenter. Not since the 60s have Sacramentans had the chance to "cruise K Street" in their cool cars. That used to be the circuit on a Friday night, Cruise down K Street, then Cruise up J Street. Simple formula and it worked for years. K Street used to have a ton of stores, remember Roos-Atkins? Now they are tearing up the cobblestones, pouring the asphalt, making K Street traffic friendly again. I'm not sure why, but I suspect this is another attempt to breath some life into a stagnant area. K Street is probabley the most torn up street in town. Over the years it just doesn't know what it wants to be when it grows up. So soon there will be cars on the street again. Which I guess means there will be more "no parking' signs on K Street. Maybe all the stores should just get drive through windows installed. No parking problem, no pedestrian problems, just drive through and get on the freeway and your gone. At least the makeover is putting a few people to work. Now let's get them working on the infrastructure and you got something..
