Over the summer, a friend of mine passed away--she was early 50's, fairly "young." Recently--on her birthday!--I noticed in my Facebook feed that someone had posted a happy b-day to her, not knowing the situation. And it occurred to me...how LONG do our digital footprints last? And whose responsibility is it..if any..to wipe those footprints away? I went to her FB page, and reminisced. Tho there weren't many photos posted, I realized that FB provided a snapshot of her life...a cyber-scrapbook, a virtual headstone. How many more times will I visit the FB pages of friends who are no longer with us? And what legacy will those pages leave? ---Hmmmmm....maybe I shouldn't have posted those photos of my beer pong tournament...OR...maybe I SHOULD...because, that's how I want my friends to remember ME. Oh, the dilemma of the digital world.... (photo by takomabibelot)
