Jim Marshall 1936 - 2010

Jim Marshall, a photographer who gave us some of the most famous images in rock and roll, died this week in New York.  He was a favored photographer of Jimi Hendrix, the Rolling Stones and Janis Joplin, and he was the only photographer allowed backstage at the Beatles’ last concert in San Francisco. At left is one of his shots from that Candlestick Park show.  He once wrote..   “My style is that I don’t have a style.  I never do anything the same way twice.  When you see my pictures, it’s about the person in the photograph, not me – not the guy behind the lens.  I want someone to see those people, not my picture of them.”
