A $5000 burger? Yeah, or I could pay some bills...
It's great to indulge here and there......but a hamburger that costs thousands of dollars? Oh yes, there is such a thing. Forbes recently compiled a list of the world's most extravagant meals from Vegas to Shanghai.
Now back to that burger:
The $5,000 Fleur Burger - Las Vegas. Created by Fleur de Lys chef Hubert Keller, this burger contains kobe beef, truffles and foie gras (see photo). The real cost, though, comes with the concoction's accompaniment -- a bottle of 1995 Chateau Petrus from Bordeaux.
Are you craving Italian? How about:
Nino's Bellissima Pizza - New York. There's nothing special about the sauce or the crust. This pizza earns its $1,000 price tag with its toppings. Nino's loads down this pie with caviar and fresh Maine lobster. There's also some salmon roe and a little wasabi.
And for dessert:
$1,000 Sultan's Golden Cake - Istanbul. Upon request the pastry chef at the Ciragan Palace Kempinski will prepare a "golden cake" that has been flavored with fruits marinated for years in Jamaican rum, vanilla beans from French Polynesia and French wheat. But what makes this the ultimate bakery bling is the dusting of 24-karat edible gold.
Wow – at these prices, after maybe a year or two of saving, I might be able to afford an appetizer…..
