I found myself watching debut week of Jimmy Fallon's late night show. Yeah, it's a work in progress. What isn't? Yes, I've seen all the criticism.. "he's awkward... not funny.. no direction..." Not only was I nervous for him, but I found myself rooting for him. Why? Because he doesn't come across as one of those glib, "I'm-hipper-than-the-room" kind of guys... His moments with Tina Fey and Amanda Peet were terrific. I know it's early, but I'm hoping his everyman quality wears well. No, he's not the second coming of Johnny Carson... but at least he's not Howie Mandel....
