Even I was a little boy once.... And my late aunt Hanna would take me to the gorgeous Alhambra theatre for a movie...then afterward, across the street to a place called Russ's BBQ. I can taste it now... the most delectable BBQ beef sandwich in the world. It came in a basket, with long shoestring potatoes (and don't most things taste better in a basket?). Right next door to Russ's was another landmark, Luis's Mexican restaurant. The Alhambra, Russ's and Luis's are all gone, and I miss them terribly. I suppose it's possible that I recall them as being better than they were... but I don't think so. Let me know if there are some favorite spots in Sacramento that you miss, as well.
