R.I.P. Randy Rhoads

.jpg) It was 30 yrs ago today--March 19, 1982--that Randy Rhoads died in a plane crash in Florida. His death is the stuff of rock legends..a prank gone horribly wrong. Randy was on a small plane, buzzing the Ozzy Osbourne tour bus, when the wing caught the bus, and the plane crashed into a house. killing both Randy & the pilot. Rhoads had only recorded 2 albums with Ozzy when he died--"Blizzard of Oz" and "Diary of a Madman"--but his classically-influenced heavy metal riffs influenced many in the next generation of rock guitarists. Ozzy had several amazing guitarists play with him over the decades--from Tony Iommi to Jake E. Lee to Zakk Wylde--but my personal fave has always been Randy Rhoads. RIP (photo by Andrew King)
