This Sunday at high noon at the Crest Theater, 21 bands will hit the stage for the annual Stairway to Stardom Concert, brought to you by Skip's Music. It's my privilege to MC the festivities once again this year. The Stairway program, now in its 31st year, is an amazing music experience/education for the dozens of teenagers involved. Larisa Bryski is the Stairway coordinator, and she & the staff of coaches & mentors work with these folks for 8 weeks during the summer. They form bands, and help them write 3 original songs, which the band will perform on the stage in the "final concert" this Sunday, in front of a live crowd. The concert is open to the public, with tix $10 each and available at tickets.com or any Skip's Music location. --I've seen some outstanding young musicians over the years..and even those who weren't so--uh, "musically precocious"--still had a great time with the experience.
