Number One Concert: Washington, 1963...
The November issue of Relix magazine has compiled its list of the 50 Greatest Concerts. Put together by musicians, promoters, authors and radio peeps…. The number-one choice was the civil rights gathering on the Washington Mall on August 28th, 1963. It was the day Martin Luther King delivered his famous “I Have a Dream” speech. Among those performing that day were Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Peter Seeger, and Peter, Paul and Mary. The Beatles were second with their February 9th, 1964 appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show, followed by Bob Dylan going electric at the Newport Folk Festival on July 25th, 1965.
