WALT'S BEST BURGER JOINTS (in no particular order) O'Mally's Irish Pub, Old Sacramento (1109 2nd St.) The most serious blue cheese and bacon burger ever. Tons of blue cheese and big bacon strips. It's like a vacation in my mouth. You need a shower after eating this. Willie's Burgers, Sacramento (2415 16th St.) I get the triple burger with the sauce; add chili and it's an official "Willie's". Nationwide Meats, Sacramento (1930 H St.) Giant French Steakburger and big wedge fries. Deelish. Squeeze Inn, Sacramento (5301 Power Inn Rd.) The Squeeze with Cheese...a skirt cheese burger. It's all about the cheese, but what isn't. Jim-Denny's, Sacramento (816 12th St.) The total hole in the wall burger spot in downtown Sac since 1934. Good breakfast too. I started going there in '88 when Jim was still flipping burgers. Fanny Ann's, Old Sacramento (1023 2nd St.) Lots of selection for your burgers....and seasoned curly fries. I likes me some of their blue cheese burger too. The Habit, Sacramento (6 locations in the area) Nice selection of burgers. Lots of folks stop here. Mouth is watering...

Dad's Kitchen is fantastic, with the Dad's Burger (blue cheese and bacon) surprisingly mild and outstanding. The Texas West pig out burger with a slab of pork on top deserves mention, too.

mmmm, burgers

Jim Denny's is pretty good, flipped burgers there back in the early 90's. But, lately California Burgers does the trick and the onion rings are divine.

the best burger joint

the best place to have a burger is the squeeze inn. It has been around since the 80s and it is so good. The fries a not frozen they cut them every day. Try there taco's they are the best also MichelleBeckmann

some good choices there Walt.However I have to disagree on Fanny Anne's, they don't serve much of anything good and their service stinks. The Eagle rocks and welcome Walt I hope you enjoy yourself.

IMHO

Welcome Walt! Hubby and I go out at least once a week and search out a new burger here in town. We would change our names to Wimpy and Wimpette, tht's how much we like our burgers. Squeeze Inn is all about the cheese and not the burger, itself. We were not impressed with the taste of the burger at all. Dad's has an excellent burger as does the new 5 Brothers in Natomas and 5 Brothers fries ROCK! We preferred Smashburger over Habit burger but not too many place are better than Nations Burgers on Sunrise. I was raised on these in the Bay area and still one of my favorite burgers. Great pies and breakfast also!

Gatsby's @ Fulton & Alta Arden. I was going to toss in Flaming Grill, but someone beat me to it. As a side note, I'm a vegetarian. Most of these places will cater to me, while still making my carnivorous family happy.

MY Son

My son loves Fudrucker's. You have several choices for size, a zillion topping choices, and you can get buffalo, ostrich, and Venison burgers! You can't beat it!!

best bang for the buck

Jasper's Giant Burgers, in Rancho Cordova, is by far the best burger for the money. For $5 dollars, you get a great burger, steak cut fries, and a fountain drink. Of course, you can get a better tasting burger, if you're willing to pay $15 dollars, but for $5 dollars, Jasper's can't be beat!!!

THE PURPLE PLACE IS THE BEST

If you haven't made the trip out to El Dorado Hills to try the Purp, you're missing out. BEST Burgers ever, I'll say it again, THE BEST.

The COUNTER was the best...let's all rally to get them back

We were so sad to see the COUNTER be pushed out of the Fountains shopping center in Roseville. The burgers were awesome and you customized your own toppings etc. the sweet potato fries were the best we have ever had and were served with a perfect horseradish mayo. Each month there was a special, the carne asana and the lamb burger were to die for. How do we get them to come back to the area? We have visited one in San Jose and one in Marin but it is a long way for us to get our burger fix.

Two that I like:

Hefty burgers in West Sacramento is good, Scott's Burger Shack on Franklin Blvd is good too. I think that the Squeeze In is over rated. I am always looking for great burger places to try. One more awesome burger was at the Claim Jumpers in Roseville, OMG it was TASTY !!!

Made Rite

I do wish that Made Rite Burgers in Carmichael was still around. THOSE were burgers to (mayhem of choice) for! Seasoned meat with Crispy melted cheese!! Huzzah! Huzzah! Huzzah!!

Can't lose at Lou's

As long as I can remember you could always get a good burger at Lou's on Watt Avenue in North Highlands. Nothing fancy but an honest, good meal on a bun.

On your way to Tahoe?

If you're on your way to (or from) North Lake Tahoe (on 80), a stop at Ikeda's in Auburn will cure the hunger. Fresh burgers, great curly fries and shakes, and lots of pies, jams and canned goods to take home!
